You set the thermostat
to a comfortable temperature, and after about ten minutes, you should have the
level of cooling necessary to keep your household happy.

So when an AC is running but not able to deliver the comfort
it should, it’s a problem.

But … what kind of problem?

We have more than 40 years of experience working on repairing air conditioning systems in Malvern, CA, so we’re the people you can turn to for the help you need to get your cooling system back to work. Below we’ve listed some of the reasons you may have an under-performing central AC.

Clogged Air Filter

This is the most common source of a low-cooling air
conditioner. Thankfully, it’s an easy one to correct and may not require calling
for professionals. The filter located in the HVAC cabinet must be replaced with
a clean filter every one to three months or the trapped debris in it will throttle
the airflow into the air conditioner. The less air enters the AC, the less air
is cooled and sent into the ventilation system. Change the air filter and see
if this improves cooling—and remind yourself to change the filter regularly through
the summer.

Faulty Thermostat

When your house won’t cool down enough, you’ll probably
spend some time adjusting the thermostat to attempt to overcome it. But the
thermostat may be the source of the problem. A simple miscalibration that causes
the thermostat to misread the temperature will throw off home cooling. The
thermostat may have lost its connection to the AC, or have failed programming. Technicians
can repair or replace the thermostat to fix this.

Leaky Air Ducts

The air conditioning problem may be due to the ductwork
responsible for distributing cool air around the house. The ducts can develop
leaks over time, and this allows the cool air to begin to escape from the ventilation
system before it reaches the room. This not only means less cooled air getting
to rooms, but a drop in air pressure throughout and ventilation system that
affects the entire house. To fix this, you must have professionals test the
ducts and seal the holes.

Short-Cycling

This is symptom of a number of different problems in an air
conditioner. When the AC can’t complete a full cooling cycle and instead turns
on and off in quick cycles, it won’t have enough time to properly cool the
house. This could be due to a clogged air filter, leaking refrigerant, a dying
compressor, or a number of other issues. HVAC professionals must diagnose the
problem first and then find the right remedy.

Undersized AC

If the air conditioner is new, the problem may be that the
system was badly installed—it’s too small for the house. In this case, the only
solution is to have professionals (not the people who originally installed the
AC) to replace the system.

No matter when you need air conditioning repair, you can
count on our technicians. We offer 24-hour emergency service, so call as soon
as you know you’ve got an AC malfunction.

The Main Line’s Premier Service Provider since 1976! Call Michall Daimion Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. for the AC cooling repair you need.

When an AC is running but not able to deliver the comfort it should, it’s a problem.
